“Each of our pictures is a kind of visual love letter from us to the viewer, and it's the space between the viewer and the picture which makes art.” - George Prousch

Julian Cole's latest film charts the 40-year career of one of the art world's most well known double acts, Gilbert Prousch and George Passmore. Guided by their motto of making “art for all”, and known for placing themselves at the centre of their works, Gilbert and George's palette spans the universality of human experience. Death, hope, sex, money, race, religion and fear all figure in the artists' photo-montages, often in flamboyant and confronting ways.

Following the artists through Russia, China and their grimy hometown of Spitalfields, London, With Gilbert and George provides a intriguing look at the men behind the ebullient art personas.

Director Julian Cole is a guest of the Festival.
