Part comedy, part drama, this film is set in rural Quebec. The plot focuses on two warring groups of children who spend their Christmas holidays pelting one another with snowballs and trying to conquer a castle built of snow and ice. By holiday's end, it becomes apparent that neither side can or should win this struggle. The story unfolds at a boisterous pace and takes a light-hearted look at the questions of peace, war, friendship, solidarity and the personal value of individuals.

"The Dog Who Stopped The War is the sort of crisply-made allegory that should satisfy the kids... script is both quirky and mildly provocative and mercifully avoids the maudlin... some genuinely comic moments and surprisingly taut performances from a cast of largely unknowns."
