A woman takes stock and decides to change her life. With her son grown up and away from home, she feels lonely and useless, and begins to took for part-time work. Lacking confidence, she inevitably fails at the various jobs she tries. She is hired as a door-to-door saleswoman, but her incompetence soon brings about her dismissal. On her husband's suggestion, she goes on a holiday by herself. There, she finds it hard to get along with unfamiliar people, or to fit into the social scene.

Returning home prematurely, she discovers that her husband is having an affair with his secretary; she decides to leave him. She returns to her parents, who signal a bleak vision of marital future: they are ill, senile, unfulfilled. A stab at emancipation at a party with an old friend, ends in disaster, and her husband comes and takes her home.

Reduced once again to the role of a passive housewife, she escapes into a world of fantasy.

Studied acting 1964-5, acted in plays and films. Studied filmmaking, made several shorts. The Revelation (1978) is her first feature.
