"Looking out of the window I began to notice strange things about the way in which plants moved. It seemed that there were patterns and discrete combinations of bobbing, swaying, rotating, fluttering, shimmering, thrashing, flopping, twitching and jiggling. These signs were not for me, but 1 am curious even about things such as languages set up for winged things. 1 became very interested in the aerodynamic properties of plants. All this got me started on Out of Place. ..you could call it a 'science fiction' film." • Maeve Woods
