Taxi!

Produced for SBS TV Taxi' is a documentary of interviews with taxi drivers at work. Shot without interviewer or narration the cabbies talk frankly about their experiences on the job. Each of the five stories deals with a different aspect—passengers, violence, brotherhood, sex and philosophy. They reveal the dangerous and seedy underbellies of Sydney and Melbourne devil worship suicide death threats and unabash­ed lust are in the day of the life of a cabbie.

Taxi! was filmed hand held on Hi- 8 video by first-time filmmaker Emma Brunton comple­menting the raw and rough theme of the documentary. An unchanging 'passengers eye view" brings the audience into a familiar and intimate environment. (IB)
