“Wanted: someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before."

Apathetic magazine intern Darius (Aubrey Plaza, TV's Parks and Recreation) sets a course for unlikely adventure when an unusual classified advertisement piques her interest. With colleagues Jeff (Jake M. Johnson, 21 Jump Street) and Arnau (newcomer Karan Soni), she seeks the author of the listing (mumblecore veteran Mark Duplass), which solicits an open-minded soul to accompany him on a time-travelling expedition.

The endearing and amusing debut feature from director Colin Trevorrow and writer Derek Connolly (who picked up the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance for his efforts) mines the infamous internet meme - stemming from a joke ad placed in a real-life homemaker publication - for amusement, resulting in a charming, quirky sci-fi comedy destined for cult status.

Indeed, if you thought you'd already seen everything time travel films have to offer, the sweetly sublime Safety Not Guaranteed sets out to prove otherwise.

“Touching, generous, sweet, this little slip of a movie puts you under some kind of spell.” - Time
