“Part poetry, part sociological snapshot of small-town life, Falkenberg Farewell is like a Swedish I Vitelloni - the opening salvo from a new and distinctive talent.” - Toronto Film Festival

Jesper Ganslandt's visionary debut is a farewell to his own childhood, created in collaboration with his real-life friends. It captures the emotional memory of one fateful summer in the lives of David, Holger, Jesper, Jorgen and John. Holed up in small-town Falkenberg biding their time, these companions are consumed by the overwhelming experience of being young, on the precipice of adulthood, and deciding what to do with the rest of their lives.

Viewed as a mood piece rather than a contained narrative, Ganslandt's film evokes the haze of adolescent ennui - and the jar of unexpected tragedy - with striking precision.

"Made with no money but plenty of heart and cinematic smarts, first-time writer-helmer Jesper Ganslandt's Falkenberg Farewell is by turns funny, tragic and nostalgic… stays with the viewer long after the film has ended." - Variety
