Set in a one-horse rural community, In the Name Of... tells the story of Adam, a young, progressive priest sent to oversee the local parish and manage a residential centre for at-risk teenage boys and men. Well-liked by the community and devoted to his faith, Adam keeps his complicated past about his sexuality a secret.
This contemporary portrayal of hope, doubt and longing treads a delicate middle ground between Gothic expressionism and psychological drama. Director Malgorzata Szumowska offers up a rich and empathetic character study of one man's plight to balance his deep fragility and strength of spirit.
