"A grittily impressive debut … captures the volatility of a society where violence lies uneasily below the surface." – Variety

Titli is the youngest member in a family of car-jackers, desperate to escape the criminal life he was born into. When his frustrated brothers attempt to marry him off, Titli discovers an ally in his equally unwilling bride Neelu, and the two strike a bargain to help one another escape their worlds.

The first feature from writer/director Kanu Behl, Titli explores a side of India more closely identified with news headlines than the bright colours of Bollywood. Premiering in Un Certain Regard, the film received rave reviews from critics for its compassionate, compelling look at India's criminal culture.

"Titli, just like the ‘butterfly' the title itself translates to, has taken flight in my inner soul." – Huffington Post
