A widowed coroner is so desensitised to death that he's barely able to tell who's alive and who's dead these days. His dangerously bulimic daughter isn't even trying to hide her illness anymore. And her physical therapist is grappling with the newly discovered and unwelcome knowledge that she can communicate with the dead.

Body won Polish director Małgorzata Szumowska (In the Name Of, MIFF 2013) the Silver Bear for Best Director at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival (a prize shared with Radu Jude for Aferim!). A playful and provocative interrogation of how we react to loss and the prospect of death, the film doubles as a reflection of the tensions underpinning contemporary Poland, where the conveniences of the present wrestle with the dwindling traditions of the past. Taboo-breaking, unexpected and blackly funny, this is an intriguing puzzle of a film that will challenge and delight in equal measure.
