Dubbed the underground "mayor of New York" by Alice Cooper, Fields was a passionate and polarising figure pivotal to the careers of a new wave of counter-culture acts. Documentarian Brendan Toller rounds up legends – including Cooper, Iggy Pop, Wayne Kramer, Judy Collins, Seymour Stein and many others – to report back from the grimy frontline of the era. Fields was not only manager to the Ramones but also publicist to Cream and The Doors, an editor, record exec, Factory affiliate, Beatles concierge, Harvard dropout and opinion-shaper.
