The latest from Japanese filmmaker Yoriko Mizushiri (veil, MIFF 2015; Snow Hut, MIFF 2014) is a squirm-inducing depiction of the strange machine that is the human body.

Why do our bodies yearn to feel something when we’re anxious? Mizushiri’s astonishingly tactile animation answers the question in every which way imaginable, vividly morphing from joy to terror and all the sensations in between. Following its premiere at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Anxious Body was also awarded this year’s Annecy Jury Distinction for Best Short Film.
