A night of live performances by Gossip Pop, pig&machine with DP Wolf, and The Primitive Calculators, in conjunction with MIFF's Punk Becomes Pop program.

An unanticipated exposure of bodily parts featuring The Primitive Calculators, Gossip Pop, and Pig&Machine with DPWolf. Bright abrupt appropriated and aggregated, a night where the virtual dead and the nearly dead do battle. Where popular culture is treated as it should. Where feedback invades the senses, and the noise of Japan coincides with the noise of Melbourne.

Gossip Pop (20 mins)
Sue Dodd

Gossip Pop, a DIY pseudo ‘band' performance project for Dodd combines addictive tabloid and reality tv narratives and imagery with manufactured electro in a lo-fi, funny and often disturbing simulacra of the celebrity pop spectacle and mass media culture. Involving sampling, displacement and deconstruction in the tradition of beat poetry, feminist performance and karaoke.

Pig&machine with DPWolf (20 mins)
John & Yuka Harte and DPWolf

Super fast frantic beats competing for space with demented, cutesy synth lines, distorted wall of noise guitar fuzz, super evil screams and growls, lyrics that are either japanese or undecipherable, Pig&machine offer a faceful of freaky to dance your arse off to when you've got nothing left to lose!

The Primitive Calculators (30 mins)
Stuart Grant, Denise Hilton, Dave Light and Frank Lovece

Calculators vs Aztecs - The Primitive Calculators have been playing for 35 years either side of a thirty year break. As a nearly dead genuine living historical artefact they are looking forward to the honour of playing a duel with actual dead guys when they meet Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs in a duel of the dead and the may as well be dead in the shared performance of the Billy Thorpe classic Mama.
