Class, gender politics and domestic violence collide with dance in this experimental short from the singular Lucrecia Martel (Zama, MIFF 2018; The Holy Girl, MIFF 2004), in which a woman applies for a job as a hotel chambermaid, only to have her reality crumble as her desperate family situation begins to haunt her. Masterfully blending verbal and physical expression, this ingeniously tense piece, which premiered at Venice, finds Martel exploring richly rewarding new terrain.
