F1ghting Looks Different 2 Me Now Unclassified 18+ 11 mins

Director: Fox Maxy (2022)
Language: English
Genre: Experimental

Viewer Advice: Contains stroboscopic imagery.

A maximalist mixtape of videogames, pop music and red paint, at once joyous and disruptive.

Delivered in signature kaleidoscopic montage style, the latest short from Fox Maxy (Maat Means Land, MIFF 2021) – whose debut feature Gush also screens at this year’s festival – documents the California-based artist and filmmaker’s homecoming to the ancestral lands of the Mesa Grande Band of Iipay/Kumeyaay/Diegueño Mission Indians (now known as San Diego County). Exuberant, exhilarating and exploding with disruptive energy, F1ghting Looks Different 2 Me Now is a portrait of people and country that reflects Maxy’s ongoing explorations of time, identity and the environment.
