MIFF Volunteers

2023 MIFF volunteer applications are open until 15 June!

Are you passionate about film and enjoy a fast-paced festival environment? If so, we want you!

Each year MIFF engages an exceptional team of volunteers to help deliver the MIFF experience to our passionate audience. Primary activities include cinema ushering, queue management, ticket scanning and providing customer service to MIFF attendees.

If you are interested in working in the film or events industries, it’s also a fantastic way to be a part of a world-renowned festival, and a great way to get a foot in the door. Many people who previously or currently work with MIFF started out as volunteers!

Please complete the Volunteer Application Form by clicking ‘Apply Now’ below. This form is for all applicants, including those who have volunteered at MIFF before.

“The VCs [volunteer coordinators] and ushers are near-universally awesome – they are super friendly.”

“I had such a great time back at MIFF this year, met so many great vollies, ushers, VCs and MIFF staff – I’m sad it’s already over but can’t wait for 2023!”

“MIFF is the best volunteering I had this year!”

“Overall, an amazing experience. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this an incredible experience for patrons and volunteers alike!”

“Just to say a BIG thank you, to everyone involved in facilitating the MIFF volunteer program. As always, it was an amazing experience, which is in large part due to the fantastic culture perpetuated at MIFF!”

“Thank you so much for this opportunity – it provides a highlight of my year.”

“I loved it; it was three times as good as I expected. I really enjoyed meeting other volunteers and watching films on shift, and off shift, and I thought MIFF was brilliantly organised. So many of the films I saw were outstanding, especially the documentaries, and the Q&As with filmmakers were all outstanding.”

“Thank you for running a wonderful volunteer program that truly appreciates people giving up their time to do it.”
